Mauro's original ambition was to become a motoring journalist, but dyslexia set him on a different path - one driven by action and visuals rather than words. Despite this Mauro is a talented automotive script writer and automotive video presenter having presented video reviews and tests on the worlds oldest car magazine, Auto Car, something he hopes to return to when possible. As a freelance test driver, he was used by the world's leading automotive magazines, blending technical expertise with captivating storytelling to highlight the performance and character of the world's finest cars.
In 2009, Mauro joined the legendary BBC show Top Gear, working alongside Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. From drifting hypercars like Ferraris, Paganis, Porsches, and McLarens to executing outrageous and daring challenges, Mauro quickly became a vital part of the production team and became known in the industry as the go to person to help translate the passion and excitement of driving into unforgettable moments on screen.
When Clarkson, Hammond, and May launched The Grand Tour with Amazon Prime in 2016, Mauro was invited to continue working with "The Trio" while still playing a crucial role on BBC Top Gear with new presenters Matt LeBlanc, Chris Evens, Chris Harris, Rory Reid, Paddy McGuinness, and Freddie Flintoff.
Splitting his time between the two shows, Mauro used his driving skills, creative choreography, and deep production insight to help shape award-winning sequences. His behind-the-scenes contributions also included choosing and naming Top Gear's "Reasonably Fast Car," the Toyota GT86 and helping to choreograph many of the driving sequences.
